Departing
Dover: none of our trips could authentically begin without the
customary 'Sheila at ship's rail' photo. Although blustery weather
threatened, the Channel crossing was uneventfully peaceful, and we were
soon heading south |

Breakfast
at Preuilly: in the heart of Berry near to Bourges, the
municipal campsite at Preuilly is a jewel set on the banks of the river
Cher; a peaceful haven with red squirrels scampering among the oak trees
and herons fishing in the river |
|
Carcassonne
medieval city: looking almost like a film set for a medieval
epic production, the panorama of Carcassonne's fortifications stand out in
spectacular fashion from the surrounding building sites and busy roads of
the modern city |
|
|
Carcassonne:
the medieval city was just 15 minutes walk from our campsite; although
heavily restored, the ramparts and fortifications offered endless
photographic potential, despite the gloomy weather and misty drizzle on
the day of our visit
