** CAMPSITES IN SLOVAKIA **

Tips for travelling in Slovakia        Bottom of this page    Return to Index Page
THE INTERACTIVE MAP (right) gives the location of all the campsites used by us in Slovakia during our August~October 2008 trip.

The chart below gives details of:

  • campsite name and location
  • date of our stay and cost per night
  • our comments and assessment-rating

Campsites are rated on a scale +5 (excellent) through to -5 (dreadful); we tried to be as consistent as possible, basing our assessment on standards applicable to Slovakia, over these headings:

  • location and setting
  • standard of facilities
  • price and value for money
  • attitudes and levels of hospitality, welcome and helpfulness shown

Prices (quoted in Slovakian koruna (sk) - current exchange rate around 35 sk/Ł) and comments given relate purely to the dates of our stay.

Autocamping Salaš Barca, Košice On coast near to Drage village 30~31 Aug

500 sk  !!! Camping/Chatová osada exploits its monopoly in Košice to charge unduly expensive prices for what in fact are mediocre standards: a dreary and desolate setting with traffic noise from nearby bypass; perfunctory and unhelpful welcome; facilities old-fashioned with minimal hot water; Košice, Slovakia's 2nd city, is delightful with its main square, Gothic Cathedral and art nouveau buildings; catch nos 3,4 or 7 tram from nearby bypass road -2
