Synagogue at Szeged: designed by Lipót Baumhorn in 1900,
this was his greatest work. The magnificent dome, built of blue stained
glass, represents the world with 24 columns for the hours of day and
night. Plaques in the foyer record the names of 1000s of Szeged Jews
murdered by the Germans in 1944 |
