Bessalu
medieval town: the 11th century fortified bridge over the
river Fluvia leads into the winding narrow streets,
dark-arcaded shops and sunny squares of the medieval hilltop town. And
even on a Sunday, it was surprisingly quiet. |

Breakfast
at Vall de Ribes: this must be one of the most memorable
spots where we have camped (how often have we said that!) - it felt as if we had the whole side valley to ourselves, sharing it with just the
cattle grazing on the opposite side, with their clanging bells |

Cremallera
train in Gorge de Nuria: challenging mountains and
incredible railway engineering all in one day. The only
real way to appreciate both was to walk the superbly constructed GR11
footpath down the 1000m descent of the Nuria gorges. |
